Anthony Gallo Nucleus Ref 2

For sale is a pair of Anthony Gallo Nucleus Reference 2, in gold champagne finish. All original, in excellent cosmetic and perfect functional condition. Consecutive serial numbers. Original box (box only in OK condition) and packaging materials included.

These are arguably the best speakers ever made by Anthony Gallo. Starting with two custom Dynaudio 17W75XL (with a massive 3" voice coil!) per side, enclosed in aluminum spherical enclosure spun from a 12 inch aluminum disc, then treated with an electrolytic bath. This gave the enclosures a beautiful golden tone and more importantly, provides the cabinet with ceramic like properties. The tweeter is the famous CDT unit which provides 330 degree sound dispersion, resolution and refinement rivaling electrostatics, as well as huge power handling capabilities. In short, one of the very best tweeter available. Finally, there is no crossover. Just a short run of Nirvana Audio internal wiring connects the drivers -- assuring long term reliability (no need to worry about crossover recaps) and ultimate sonic purity (signal path cannot be more short and direct).

The result is a speaker that rivals the very best. Linear from 26Hz to 20 kHz +/- 3 dB, easy to drive (pairs well with single end triode tube amplifiers, high powered solid state amps and everything in between), holographic imaging, electrostatic resolution without volume limitations. This speaker does not limit one's listening tastes. It sounds exceptional with any types of music -- a crystal clear window to the recorded event that is emotionally involving and moving.

In terms of service history, one of the woofer surrounds was accidentally damaged (a small 1 cm tear), the last owner had it replaced, using genuine Dynaudio surrounds specific for that woofer model. The speakers are performing perfectly.

I am very conflicted about selling these. They had given me so much listening enjoyment for many years. I keep worrying that I will want them back in the future and will not be able to find a pair any more.

These retailed for $5,500 USD back in 1999, and even at that price they ceased production because it was too expensive to make.
