First edition Cal Icon in remarkable physical condition. Listing as 7/10 due to age but there is hardly a blemish to be found. Couple of very light scratches on the top rear of the unit. Nice clean faceplate. Clear and bright display. Original box and packing, owner's manual, brochure, and remote. (missing battery cover)
Sonically you can't ask for much more from a one-box digital playback. Everything you've read about the lush analogue-like sound is true. I can't think of any CD I have that doesn't sound great on this unit. It compares favorably to my vinyl playback set up.
What you've read about their quirky behavior is also true. There are a few discs in my collection that it has trouble reading. When you scroll up the play list it sometimes may not start again on the selected track. Occasionally the drawer will not open but always will when you repeat the request. Otherwise it works fine and will provide a glorious non-fatiguing highly musical rendition of your favorite music. I'm the original owner of this Icon and it has worked this way as long as I can remember.
I thought about keeping this around but since retiring and moving I am less inclined to keep extra gear that isn't being used. If I were to put it back into my system I could end up keeping it instead of the new unit. It sounds that good.
