ASC (Acoustic Sciences Corporation) Sound Panel

What they are:

Acoustic Sciences Corporation (ASC) Sound Panels: Quantity 8.
Dimensions per panel: 8” wide by 48” tall by 2” thick. Color:
Black acoustic material with white “picture frame” trim (which
can be painted to any desired color). The front side of each panel
has a stylish beveled edge. Their appearance blends nicely into a
room resulting in a pleasing aesthetic.

Why are they needed?:

Every enclosed space (room, recording studio, auditorium, etc.)
modifies sound waves often amplifying unwanted low and high
frequencies waves and causing some to attenuate or drop out all
together. A listening environment that sounds natural has eliminated
or mitigated undesirable waves while reinforcing desirable waves.

What they do:

When hung on a wall ASC Sound
Panels absorb bass frequencies within the second and third octave and
diffuse mid and high frequencies. They will tame overly “live”
sounding rooms and eliminate echos while eliminating annoying
reflections from speakers thus creating a highly musical ambiance.

Results:

When five Sound Panels were hung on
opposite walls to the right and left of my listening position, low
bass information was attenuated and mid/high information was diffused
eliminating unwanted first order bass frequencies and mid/high
frequencies particularly in the vocal range were tamed. “Flutter
echo” became absent from the listening environment. (Clap your
hands in a room. If you hear any kind of echo it is called “Flutter
Echo” which must be eliminated to achieve natural listening
surroundings). Even voice discussions between people became distinct,
clear and natural sounding.

Setup:

You can add/subtract panels and
reposition them to get the most beneficial effects. There are
mounting suggestions, pictures and white papers on acoustics
available on ASC’s website you may find helpful. The layout you see
pictured here transformed my listening room rendering the sound from
my system considerably more natural and engaging. It was quite
amazing actually.

ASC sound panels became the highest
value per unit cost component in my system! Better than some
electronics upgrades I have tried. This is real bang for the buck.
$872 for eight when new from ASC, $350 here plus $35 UPS ground flat rate shipping to the lower 48.

I am the original owner. I picked
them up at the ASC factory and installed them in a smoke free home. I
will be shipping them in the original box.
