I use the Linn 12.45 sub. This sub is without issue with the new power supply (new internal amplifier module). The older (non-upgraded) had a VERY noisy fan that use to come on randomly. The Akurate sub is nice too. It is a bit tighter but one might argue "less sub" if that's a term! Also, I recall hearing issues about the driver hitting the front grill on the Akurate when palying VERY loud. The 12.45 is a large piece! It does use up some realestate! A new 12.45 from Linn should have the Chakra amplifier in it. I have not heard the rel.

Ottawa mtnman,I havn^t had the ikemi in my system for a long time.I bought a new rack, with the ajustable shelfs but with the amps and all the other equipment I just do not have the room.I have a buyer for the player whenever he comes up with the money.What make is your sub? I just bought the sky interconect and just started playing with this piece.A friend of mine recomends the rel b1 but I havn^t heard this yet,so maybe soon I^LL get a chance to audition this sub.My next gig is too change room acoustics and since the price of dlps have come down hope to add a 100 to 120 inch screen. have a good one ,dg.

Thanks for your reply. The 242 in aktiv are truly great. I run a 12.45 sub and I end up with a very balanced system. Its hard to beat an Aktiv Linn speaker. I passive mode money is probably better spent elsewhere, in my opinion. I have not done A-B of Uni SC vs Ikemi in my system. I was just surprised that you have both and you would be the ideal person to do a well designed controlled experiment. Any reason why you still have the Ikemi?

Ottawa mtnman; thanks for your comment,and you too have a great system plus the chicks.I only have one hen,and I can^t get her to even kiss me, but thats a different story.To answer your first question,I havn^t done a blind test.When I bought the sc that was one of my first questions about the sc vs ikemi,my friend works for sounds like music in the phoenix area said the ikemi was a bit better but to do a blind test I really be surprised to hear a huge improvement.I was also looking at the video part of the player which was a improvement over my toshiba 9200. I listened to the speakers you have when they first came out and was very impressed.In the treble and midrange area they really out shine the keltiks,the keltiks bass still is better but when you put the akurate with a good sub they really out do the keltiks.I hope in a couple of years to own these.I will try soon to post pictures.hope to hear from you again.dg.

Nice setup! Can you post pics?
Can you comment on Ikemi vs Unidisk SC on CD? Have you tried (wouln't be too hard to do) comparing the two blinded say by doing a series of 10 or so random switch by someone else and see if the two are really different as many pretend?
