Description

This is the system I've wanted for years. I started researching and rebuilding a couple years ago when we moved into a larger house. The next item on my agenda is a new turntable, likely a Sota Nova, then perhaps new cables. Right now my cabling is a mismatch of Kimber, Audioquest, and Bluejean. After that, perhaps some room treatments.

I know I should say lovely components and system, which is completely true, but I gotta say - absolutely love the rug (which is the opposite of what I have). Mark my words, though, ugly rugs will be a fad within the next ten years.

Nice equipment. If acoustic treatments are a no-no from the wife, at least try to place the speakers at a similar distance from the sidewalls. A tape measure is an audiophile's best friend. However I do realize the windows are off center and it may obstruct some outdoor vision on the right side. I guess that's why I ended up building my own dedicated listening room from scratch. I did it when I turned 65. Before that it was in the living room, like yours, so I know. Compromise is the glue that holds couples together. Glad you are enjoying it!

Thanks, mjcmt. This is absolutely a dream system. My wife and I are lucky enough to be able to afford these luxuries.

The 308 paired with the Audio Mirror Tubadour DAC is unreal. (The Pro-ject is my turntable preamp.) I can finally listen to my CDs for hours without fatigue. It sounds so freaking good! Airy, spacious top end that blooms instead of bangs. I'm not sure what a new transport would even offer me so until the 308 dies, I'm good.

I was listening last weekend to Nancy Lamott at a pretty loud volume for me and I kept bracing myself, waiting for my system to hit its limit with distortion or some other nastiness, but it never did. It just sounded moving. It just played the music. It gave me exactly what I wanted and I knew there was more room for it to get better if I wanted it to.  I've never had such a pure music experience before with my system. Good times, baby!

Thanks @jond!

Coming from a budget system, your speakers and amplification are what dreams are made of.

20 years ago I had the Cary CD308. Was very nice but it had digit-itis (if that's a word).
How does it compare to it as a transport w/ Pro-ject DAC?

Nice looking system and room @rblondeau!

@highend64 Thanks man. I'm really loving the sound I'm getting these days. I'm especially happy with the Tubadour because it's got me listening to my CDs again. It sounds better than my vinyl! Room treatments are going to be a tough discussion with my wife. Her letting me have this system in our main living area is a huge gift to me. I'm just happy to be enjoying music so much.

Very nice looking system and room. I suggest working on room treatment first. I hzve a few panels in my room and made a huge difference. Happy listening
