Description

This is my second system.

My Old system was just a two channel system.

Like watching movies and changed my speakers. The previous speaker was the AE 2 Reference series. Had that for 12 years and I guess it's time for a change. I changed the rack, amplifier and speakers. The old amplifier was an Adcom.

This Quads are unforgiving. what you play is what you hear. So a bad recording will sound really bad. I use an Apple 23-inch Display for movies as my room is small and I don't watch TV often. The 15.4 inch Macbook Pro provides digital sound from it's soundcard. I listen to music often as well.

The Arcam amplifier as well as the CD player are black models which are different from the pictures of the model I posted under the equiptment list.

I chose a dark colour for my room as it helps alittle bit by absorbing sound as I do not want to have any foam stuck to the walls.

I write music and so the Quad 12L Passive monitors are perfect. Normally, the smaller keyboard is kept when not in use. The big one is left there for practising music.

Comments or opinions are welcome on the system or anyway to upgrade. Thank you.

A very nice looking setup. I also tinker from time to time with music. I have a Roland Xp60 workstation that I hook up to my two channel for fun. (I really am very bad at it)

I have never heard that Quad monitor I bet it sounds great!

Kozine, you may love the Marantz SA8260/SA8400 which also plays the SACD, with your Quads. If you want plain CD, then the Creek and MF3.5 are very nice. It all depends on the budget finally. I have heard the Quad 12Ls with Arcam CD73 and it sounded very nice. A NAD 542 would also help if you have many HDCDs.

Yea. Thanks. Any suggestions for better CD players ?

I luv those Quad 12Ls. They are the ones that drew me to Quad L series. They throw a large sound stage and the bass is amazing for such small speakers. You are right - what you play is what you get. That sub is awesome.
BTW, you may want to upgrade the CD player at some later time to hear the full potential of the speakers.

Recently, i just added surround speakers. Cheap ones at 20 dollars (Singapore dollars) bought from cash converters. Philips. Don't really know the model name but i don't really bother though, it's just effects. By the way, the sound is pretty pleasing. Crystal Clear with good mid bass for a surround speaker. The design is just like the Acoustic Energy Aegis One Compact. Might upgrade to the actual AE Aegis one compact if I have enough Cash in hand. Any suggestions or comments on it ? or suggestions for better ones. all are welcome.

Thanks. I was using a Ableton Live at first. Its a wonderful software but i switched to garageband recently in March because I find it more user friendly and it converts MIDI siginals to musical notes which i kinda need it.

Your upgrade dosen't sound silly. Maybe a little couch will be good instead of my normal fold chair from IKEA. haha.

Very nice setup. What recording software are you using?

Suggested upgrades - it may sound silly, but a more comfortable chair will do wonders for your listening enjoyment.
