Description

I would describe the sound of my chain as a warm, detailed and synergic. This system favors musical feeling over technical analysis and performance. Living in an old apartment, I tried to focus on the details and natural texture of the sound rather than trying to push the limits of physics and annoying my neighbors.

There is a tangible sense of solidity to the sound, yet it remains smooth and forgiving enough. It’s less about achieving "perfection" and more about creating a soulful system.

Thanks for the advice, @linnie01 . I’ve been a record collector for much longer than I’ve been a hi-fi enthusiast, so I usually have the albums I want to listen to in my collection of over 3,000 records. I’ll keep that in mind, in case I decide to take advantage of the convenience of digital.

Lovely set up!  The black Marantz 2270 is a bomb.  I always wanted one back in the day.  Very cool Rogers speakers as well.

I tip my hat to all you apartment music lovers!  It’s definitely a balancing act of quality vs volume in shared living spaces.  I think you nailed it.

Ever consider adding digital?  If so, the Wiim Ultra or Pro Plus will make you smile for very little $$ ($329 or $219 when not on promo on Amazon).

Happy listening!!!

@wnurz Thank you! Maybe one day I'll get the chance to make the whole house shake—who knows.

Nicely done!  I too was in apartments/condos for years, and always had to find a balance of space, volume, and tone.  I enjoyed those systems as much as my home system now.  I'm sure you do as well!

Thank you, @dtorc ! As you so aptly put it, we’re music lovers first and foremost. Music will always find its way, but we can give it a little nudge every now and then, especially when conditions aren't ideal.

Way back when, I was a teacher in a boarding school. I had an apartment on a floor of boys, and of course, I could not disturb their study hall or sleep. I had a pair of Linn Kan's, which were about the same size as your Rogers. I had a Linn 'table and Naim electronics, and the sound of those small speakers was more than good enough to feel and understand the music. I miss how well they communicated.

Anyway, I understand that if we love music, we adapt to our circumstances, and you've done that beautifully...

Thank you for taking the time to comment, @highend64 . Although I’ve had a hi-fi system for several years, this was the first time I’d put the time and effort into ensuring a balance between the components.

Very nice yet simple system.  Good explanation on how to enjoy and relax with a system. Happy listening
