Description

Cheap but fun system to slog through dreary days here at Beltway Bandit, Inc. Adult Day Care by any other name. I've pulled out many old discs at random and I'm hearing lots of old material; I'm lucky to have the privilege. New HPs are definitely in order, probably Sennheiser 280s. Comments encouraged and welcomed.

    • AMC CD-8a
CD8b, actually. Balanced analogue outputs, but using coax out with the dac.
    • Luminous Allegro
2M and too damn stiff but a top notch cable even at it's considerable age.
    • Sonifex Redbox AD/DA
Pro dac from the UK. Rack mount ears, funky red case about 5 inches deep, balanced I/O for analogue and digital.
    • LAT Int'l IC 200 Mk1
Cotton? insulation, locking RCAs, .5M, hard to beat at this price point.
    • NAD 1020
Unit is nearly mint, slight scratch in volume, will Caig it soon. Drives high impedance AKGs with aplomb.
    • AKG 240M
High impedance pro cans. At least 15 yrs old and still sound great today. The inner damping foam on the outside of the drivers is gone but no sonic change that I can hear. One frame is spinning around the driver, doh!
