Description

This is what I hope to have in my bedroom within a couple of weeks.

I will listen to CDs or ipod either through the speakers or headphones.

I'm very interested in any comments and suggestions as the only thing I've bought so far is the PS-1. If you have any advice on speaker wires I'd be especially grateful.

I read that the Sony Playstaion-1 makes a wonderful transport, leading me to buy a used one from ebay. Have yet to set up a system so I don't know how it sounds.
    • NAD C352 Integrated
Read good things about the amp. Hoping to buy soon.
    • Paradigm MiniMonitor
Heard these at the local dealer and will purchase soon.

Verneal,

Good advice o the computer front, but I'm on a strict budget. At the moment I have an old Apple G4 Cube that I rescued from our basement and an external hard drive to store the files. I'll run the music through a small DAC and to the amp.

You probably have a laptop and wireless router. I would not purchase a CD player. In its place but the Logitech Sueezebox Touch streamer, rip your CDs to your laptop for the IPOD and play your CDs thru the Squeezebox and the Nad amp using the existing D/A convertor in the little $300 Squeeze box. I GAUARANTEE you it will sound better than the CD only player at this price point.

Pat, thanks for the input. I'm looking at the anti-cables, but the NAD amp specifically states to not use solid wire speaker cables. I'll be on the look out for the PBJ interconnects.

Nice little system. I would find a used pair of Kimber Kable PBJ's for the Sony player to the NAD amp. And I have enjoyed the The Anti-cables by Paul Speltz. Just be sure when you have him cut them for you, that you get the exact length you need. I have mine terminated with spades. And I would also recommend you look at Billy Bags stands. He's a former race car frame builder who makes stands for high end audio. You can find them used sometimes, but they are worth it if you want rock solid stability. I have two of them in my place & if you buy new, it takes about 3 months to build. Just a suggestion. Pat
