Description

I have further simplified my system. Lot of previous components have been sold or in the process. Got rid of the Accuphase CD/SACD player. I now have a Linn DS (Akurate). Ripped all my CDs to 16/44.1 lossless flac files. The Linn renders the songs from the CDs better than the CD players I have used.

Now I just got a JVC Z1010 "state of the art" (Please dont laugh) cd player for an occasional cd that I play before ripping it.

I have Ripped most of my LPs using SME 20, Accuphase C-27 phono preamp and Benckmark ADC. Converted to 24/96k flac files. The album covers scanned to Hi-res Jpegs.

I still have the SME 20/2 table and all my LPS and still plan to play them, just not set up here yet. the top shelf is still available for the turntable. I was thinking of getting a Mcintosh MT 10 turntable becasue of its looks mainly, dont know how it performs.

Hassle free playback thru the Linn DS system, its quite wonderful and quite enjoyable. The quality and the warmth of the LPs has been preserved to a large extent by the High quality conversion system and the nice benchmark Analog to Digital converter. I would whole heartedly recommend the benchmark to anyone looking to do LP to digital flacs.

I still like the LPs but it is a physical contact playback medium and every time I played the record, there was wear and the audio quality for the next playback slightly degraded. This was my reason for digitizing the LPs. Lot of the older LPs one cannot even get anymore. What you have is what you have.

Just got MIT interconnects and Speaker cables (both Shotgun 3.3 series). Still breaking them in.

I think I am enjoying this system more than when I used to keep switching LPs and CDs. I can select 3 songs from different cds and 6 from different LPs, create a playlist and Just enjoy. And for those moments when I want the touch and feel of the LP, just use my turntable.

I thank all my audiogon friends for their suggestions and wisdom.
