Description

Most of this system has been cobbled together over the past few years, as I have started getting in to HiFi. Much of it is either hand-me-downs from older, wiser, richer audiophiles (my father and close family friend), or homebuilt. All of my equipment stands on a homebuilt FleXy Rack, and all of my "low end reinforcement devices" are researched, designed, and built by myself. My turntable was built by my father when he was 19. My goal has been to have a versatile system that encompassed two core ideas: the ability to play loud, and the ability to play beautifully. I feel that my present equipment now allows me to enjoy both of those things, but I am ever upgrading, bit by bit.

Recently I have gotten in to the idea of upgrading components from stock, especially crossover capacitors and coupling/decoupling capacitors, as I have found they make a noticeable difference in the end sound. I just finished rebuilding the crossovers in my floor-standing Polk main speakers, and am very pleased with the results.

The only other things I would like to get for now are some room treatments and some kind of power conditioning.

I feel it should also be said that I am a broke college student, and only have a MAX of $500 to spend on any one component. (That should make things difficult!)
