I can tell when people hav'nt seen holographic imaging when they suggest moving the listening position this way or that. When a system has achieved holographic imaging you can see it from any where in the room. You don't have to be at any specific spot it's just there.

Hi Ray,
I saw some ribbon planner speaker at a dealer that came close.Back then I thought Bose was the best speakers so I was really naive.I am still working on my system with different tweeks but like most audiophiles I'm never satisfied.
It's great getting input from you guys since most people I know just don't get it.LOL

Hello Jfg,I understand what you are talking about concerning holographic soundstage.I heard it once at what is now Sweet Home Audio in Clearwater ,Fl. The owner had just finished setting up a new system that featured Analysis Audio speakers (Omegas) ,Electrocompaniet electronics .I was in another room, and followed the sound to this room Brian the owner was standing in the center of the room with a huge smile.I had that smile too.It did not matter where you were in the room, the sound filled the room ,so completely! The sound seemed to go beyond the walls somehow. And you seemed to almost be able to reach out and touch the notes. The closest I have come to having that sound was when I had a Conrad Johnson MF-2500-A poweramp in my system and late night listening. It was like the notes would float over to you or around you.And that was such an intoxicating effect.I really miss that amp! I hope you are able to achieve this in your very nice system! Ray

Jfg, you definitely don't look 73. Congratulation on your young genes.
To entice you, a nice used vintage tt (when they were great in the hay-day) is very modestly priced. I also buy used LPs for .50 at GW.

Thanks Mjct for your advise. My system does throw a 3d soundstage.Better than the local dealers in my area. When I talk about holographic imaging it really is a rare sight that most audiophiles don' t believe exist.I have seen100,000 dollar system at many dealers that don't achieve it.
As far as LPs?I am too old (73) and too poor for that part of the hobby.LoL

Jfg,
You really do have a great choice of equipment, and wouldn't change any of that. I've owned or heard some of what you have and know about the rest of it. Great stuff that I'd be pleased to upgrade to. Have you thought about adding a turntable because the 3A preamp has a killer phono stage.

Now as far as 3d imaging, room treatment is important for sure, but you have a rug and heavy drapes to help in that respect. Beyond that, I've notice the biggest improvement in an average room with speaker placement. They need a lot of room to breath with no obstructions behind, sides, and between.

Nice looking room. Looks like a great space to enjoy your music and videos. Interesting your getting into sound treatments, I may be heading that way myself. Sweet system. Happy listening.

I just got back into the hobby.I used to have a listening room in my home but retired now.I live in a condo now.I had some bass traps I bought years ago that I'm using now.My wife has agreed to let me take over the living room so I will post some new pictures next week when finished.I've read two Robert Harley books so I've tried a lot of things including covering the TV.

Jfg,
Good to know that you have not given up on your existing system and have added room treatments. Curious to know if you did DIY treatment or purchased them from some firm? Treatments at first reflection points also help. Back of the room is also important. How far do you sit from the speakers and the back wall? Also experiment with throwing a thick rug over the TV when doing critical listening and see if you notice any change. One more important thing is - your own "chair" position. I have noticed in my system that even moving 3-4 inches from the optimal position changes the way your system sounds. Identifying that 3-4 inches is important, because "that" is the position that gives you goose bumps. I am sure that your PSBs can do that with the JC1, which can provide Class A for up to 25 Watts.
BTW, what was your wife's reaction when she saw the treatments?

Great choice of equipment, especially you preamp. I've wanted that preamp for year, especially for its great phono stage. You should add a nice turntable now.

Hi Milpai
I did add some room treatment (plants and bass traps) while the wife was away on a cruise.lol What a improvement!!.Now I have to do the back of the room. Thanks again for your advice.

Thank you for your response Milpai.I'm sure someone could come in and get better results then me.Like most of us I've had many different amps exc. in different rooms.I have also seen $100,000 systems at dealer's show rooms but never yet have I seen holograph imaging again.
I find that monitors image better(dollar per dollar).I have Paradigm 20v5s in my other system with vtl 125 amps that image better then the golds but they don't have the same robust sound stage.
I like your system.Happy listening.

Jfg,
I have heard the exact same thing at a qudio show about 12 years back. It was a setup with PSB Silveri and Krell monoblocks. The CD was Tutti Orchestra from Reference Recordings. You have better speakers. So maybe some room treatments will get you what you are looking for. You should also try Signal Cable`s Silver Resolution ICs and speaker cables, before you change your speakers. You have a really good setup. Fine tune it before making a major change. It would be worthwhile.
