Description

I've been buying and selling pieces looking for the right components with the best synergy and, while I'm sure that I'll never be done, I'm at least beginning to spend more money on CD's again. And isn't that what it's all about....the music?? Overall, I'm very satisfied with the synergy that this system achieves. There are no MAJOR weak links. Soundstage is excellent - deep and wide. Imaging is quite good, too (although not as precise as the Platinum Audio Solo's that the Hales replaced). More than anything, this is a very non-fatiguing, well-balanced, versatile system that is equally good playing everything from jazz to rock, classical to blues and everything inbetween. I should also mention that the Classe gear was acquired separately and was more of a fluke than an intentional "matching" of components. I bought the DR-9 first and had a difficult time finding a preamp that worked well with it. After some trial and error, it was recommended that I try the DR-6 and I couldn't be happier. I've heard mixed reviews about the newer Classe gear, but this old DR series is just unbelievable and WAY over-built! I can't express how great a resource Audiogon has been. Lots of great gear being sold (by and large) by great folks who are passionate about their hobby.
