Description

Bought used for the most part. The Martin Logans mate well with the Sunfire. Upgrading my no-name connects is next.

The amp/speaker marriage is good. I normally don't recommend power conditioners for alot of audio gear, but for electrostatics it may not be such a bad idea. You don't need a huge conditioner since they draw so little current. But if you hear no artifacts now then there is no reason for one. I would play around with cd players, but even then the rotel may not be a bad unit, I'm not familiar with them outside my sister's budget system.

I'm wondering what tubes you use in the Sonic Frontier.Everybody lists the name of their tube preamp, as though, we can reference the sonics, by the name. The sonics of a well designed tube preamp, is wholly subject to the tubes installed. Mediocre sounding tubes, mediocre sounding preamp. My first upgrade would be the cd player. The rest of the system, is capable of truly outstanding sound, but I believe it is sounding, only as good, as the Rotel, allows.

Very nice and simple setup,I'm just wondering about your interconnects and power cords/conditioners.Put your CD player into the "DIRECT\\' input on your Sonic frontiers preamp and see if you hear the difference in sound.Cheers

Nice system. I would think it has some of the best sound for the dollar that is possible. Interestingly, I have also had great results with the Sunfire amp running Martin Logans. I used to own a pair of the original CLS's, and must have tried 10 different amps on them, ranging from over $10k amps down to $1k amps. Of the bunch, the Sunfire gave me the most of what I was looking for - good detail but not etched, warm but not mushy, and most important for me, a nice lifelike presence. I have since moved on to tubes and different speakers, but the Sunfire/Logan combo was still one my best, and definitely highest bang-for-the-buck system I have had. Now, if I would have just stopped while I was ahead .....
