Looks like a nice system for the money, I'd be hard-pressed to think of a better path at that budget. I'd consider a better turntable though, maybe a Rega P-2 or something. A very high bang for the buck on such a well balanced system. Happy Listening!

Further system revisions:
-- preamp, B&K Pro 10MC has replaced NAD C340 preamp section
-- CD player, Arcam CD92 has replaced Cambridge Audio D500

Results of revisions:
-- cleaner, clearer, more detailed trable & midrange
-- better pace, rhythm and timing
-- bass extension lower, but bass lighter

System edited: I am now running the preamp section of the C340 integrated into the C270, a solid state power amp, connected with MAS Gray. The extra power is noticeable in a deeper, more defined bass. This is not loud or thumping, but a clear, natural, musical presence. The 1b's sounded good with the 50 watt/channel power section of the C340; they sound better with the 120 watt/channel C270. I'm not playing the system louder, but I'm hearing a bit more music at normal volume levels than I was before.
