You did the right thing. My daughter is a Senior in High School. I got her first system, as a Christmas present, when she was a Freshman.

I saw alot of my friends cheap out and get their kids those $200 mini systems. Only to watch them die by the following Christmas.

Spent around $450 total and got her a system composed of PSB Alpla Minis, Pyle 8" Sub, Technics Receiver and Kenwood Carousel CD player. Still going strong. I expect she will still have it after graduating College.

wish I had a system this good at 11...but then I might not have had as much fun learning just how crappy my old systems were and slowly building a good system.
