OK I lied;

I guess I'm not content!
I just bought a Rotel RC-995 as I want to make absolutely sure that the preamp is not the weak link :)
(A bonus is that the remote controls the CD too)

The musical Fidelity Tube X-Pre never materialized (COD delivery?)

Upon the RC-995's arrival I will update on my findings

I also have a pair of MIT Terminator 2 IC's on the way, I will experiment with these and the SignalCable2's to see which sounds better between the pre and power/source.

I understand that the T2's are relatively high capacitance...

Thx Sugabrie,

I completly agree regards the P range, especially the P4 - as I like the transmission line and build quality of this small floor stander.

I'm content at the moment with just cable / support experiments etc :)

Also looking forward to moving my gear to a better listenning environment
- which will happen when I move from cramped San Fran to roomy Atlanta. ETA within about 2 or 3 weeks :)

Great Job! The B&W Preference Series were a real sleeper product. Since they sold for so little ($1200 to $1800 MSRP) most folks matched them with budget electronics, which is a mistake. They are very revealing for a relatively inexpenive speaker. They will reveal the shortcomings in budget electronics; so many not knowing blamed the speakers. They sound sweet with better electronics. Better than the CDM series which cost the same (IMHO).

While the Rotel is a very nice budget product, if you ever get the upgrade bug, your system is good enough to warrant a better digital source. You could either replace the Rotel or use it as a transport with a DAC.
