Description

This is a budget system, which has been going strong since 1993 when I purchased the primary components. The integrated and speakers are now a well known combo.

I have added the Phonomena II phono stage, which was kindly customized by Micheal Yee for me, and some DIY speaker cables which are an amazing improvement. The AT150MLX is sounding best at 128pF and 62K loading. So if you have the mind to work with alternate loading on an MM cart, or venture into DIY cable making, I ll give you a strong endorsement based on my results.

Terrific looking audio rack, is that a flexy with 3 or four posts? Can't tell from the picture.

I also owned the AMC CVT3030 and Vandy 1B's but not at the same time. However, at a high end audio store in Philly several years back, I did hear the same exact CVT3030/1B combo that you have and it was a very synergistic combination. I had my CVT3030 with a pr of Chateau Research 1.5 spkrs (same drivers and shaped cabinet as Wilson Watts) and several years later had the Vandy 1B's with a Creek 5050 int and later an Acurus A80 amp/Hegeman Hapi 2 pre combo.

Both the CVT and 1B are really nice pieces. For what it is, the CVT is excellent as are the 1B's.

That looks like a wonderful system. You've been content for more than 15 years? I envy you in that regard.
I had a pair of Vandy 1Cs a few years ago and loved them. They were magic with the proper tilt angle which was almost no tilt in my room. Unfortunately I traded up to the 2Ce sigs and could not get them to work in my small room.
I have also been using Audioquest Slate speaker cables in a biwire configuration for many years. This cable is another true bargain IMO. I also like the AQ Type 8 cable which is very similar to Slate and reasonably priced.

Not too bad, which is to say, rather well. It is a 30 watt Class A. I have had a few different sets of tubes, which tend to change the characteristics.

All I can say is that I shopped for more than two years before I bought, and it was this amp and speaker combo that prompted me to buy.

I suspect more would overwhelm the 1Bs. It is particularly nice at lower volumes. I would pair them with a fairly analytical source.

Hope that helps. Let me know if you want a more detailed description.

Just curious how the amp powers the 1B's? Thanks!
