Description

Hi all, just posting the first time in the foru. Been reading many of the posts for sometime though. Anyway, this is my system. I am mostly interested in vinyl but I have tried to make my digital side sound as good as possible without breaking the bank which in turn would break my head when the wife found out. Anyway, the only thing that I am planning on adding from here is a nitty gritty.

Cheers!

Components Toggle details

    • Adcom GCD-575
Don't listen to many CDs but this player sounds good and is reliable.
    • California Audio Labs Sigma
This D/A converter actually makes CDs bearable to me. It sounds nice and warm and gives great fullness to the CD.
    • Project Audio Debut Carbon
Add the speedbox to this turntable and it is phenomenal. Great sounding budget turntable.
    • Ortofon MC-10 Super
Very nice budget cartridge. Worth every penny!
    • Rotel RC-960bx
Nice sounding preamp, nothing fancy just good clean sounding music.
    • Rotel RB-850
Nice little amp. Does everything that I need it to do.
    • Magnepan SMGa
Great sounding speakers for those on a budget and a small room. They actually make my room sound bigger than it is. Wonderful sound staging from a "budget" level speaker.
    • Audioquest Evergreen
Not the best cables but for my system they work great. All of my components are connected with Evergreen except my CD to D/A converter.
    • Audioquest Type 4
Great cable for those of us that are on a budget
    • Logitec Squeezebox
I use the squeezebox to interface with music on my computer. I also use it to connect to Rhapsody and radio stations.

Hi,

I bought my SMGa's from Myer-Emco in July of 1990. They have been re-wired once, and are definitely the best money I've ever spent in audio. I power mine with a Rotel RA1062 integrated amp, and surprise, surprise, I get so much bass output that I don't need a sub

Very nice system, but you should remove "Almost" from its title. A true audiophile system is one that you enjoy and is comprised of quality gear. You are there ! Happy Listening.

I worked for Myer-Emco in Washington DC back in the early 90's and really loved the stuff in our stores. When decided a few months ago that I was tired of using my computer for my stereo and wanted something that actually sounded good I harkened back to those days. The system that I assembled was actually the same on that I set up in my store because I always thought it was a great bargain. Everything is the same except for the turntable. It does sound really nice and for the price used you just can't beat it!

you must have vast knowledge to put together a system with the price vs output in mind. it really doesn't take a vast amount of money these days to listen to music. all the companies you have selected have done a great service to audio . the one piece that you have chosen and all have great musical output, the logitech is a great piece for the versatility it has....i have been involved in audio over 60 years and spent a vast amount of money on equipment, my first sound system cost more than my first car...enjoy the MUSIC

A rose my any other name. You should post your system with pictures. You have all the bases covered for listening to your tunes. Happy listening.
