Description

This is the culmination of about 5 months of swapping and building a lot of components. After being out of the loop for awhile, from being in school and then working the past 3 years, my friend had put together a very enjoyable system. He kept asking me when I was going to get some sounds for myself. Well, I started to and then a major audio adrenalin rush hit. I suppose it was the extended time of being away that allowed me to forget, but there was a festering need that was hidden deep. I planned on slowly building up a system, but once I let a little interest out, it burst forth like a dam. So, after much building and tweaking, it is time for me to sit back and listen.

I just moved the setup to a small 11x11 room and am interested in trying a TVC with the lower volume requirements. Vinyl is definately the route I will be going. I love the textures and almost tangible realness it brings. I prefer the modest VPI jr to EMC-1 and Consonance CD2.2 .

Try this tweak.. Put a Walker resonance control disc on top (center front) of Consonance cdp. This will add much more musicality and firm bass also better staging.
Also place a small size ERS paper under the Walker puck.

I & some audiophile friends tried this tweak yesterday on my friend's system, found this cd player killed CEC TL-1x + DCS Elgar/Purcell with one pair Gryphon Guideline Reference digital for DCS Elgar and Siltech G5 Golden Ridge for CEC to DCS. Much better for musicality , tonal balance , vocal , details. Depth and soundstage on par.

Seems unbelievable if not compare yourself.

System used : Wilson WP 6 , VTL 7.5 pre + MB 450 Sig monos , Tara The One ISM , Siltech G6 Forbes Lake & VDH The Third spkr cable. Ac cord : Venture Silver Signature for CEC and Consonance cdp.

I ever own : EMC-1 mk. II UP 24/192 , Accuphase DP-75V , DP-100+DC-101 , Marantz SA-1 , Bow Tech ZZ-8 , Shanling CD-T100 and many more digital source. I'm prefer Consonance which more balance on sound quality , luckily save much money too.

Better stay with one box cd player than digital source combo. Will save much money on digital cables + power cords.

The two cdp's were in the system for a short time while I was searching for the sound I preferred. I have sold the EMC1 and still have the Consonance. The Consonance has very nice textures, but not quite the energy or detail the EMC1 has. I preferred the texture and overall coherence of the Consonance. Although, I am now trying out the cheaper combination NEC transport w/ Muse Model 2 dac w/ bessel filter, that was suggested is positive-feedback. If it is somewhere in the range of sound of the Consonance, I may go with that combo to save some $$ and put that towards the vinyl.

Curious which CD player you like best. I had the Electrocompaniet EMC-1 a few years ago but have never heard the Consonance.

Just wondering, why do you need two CD players?
