Description

Hi my name is Jot. I am 10 years old and this is my first system. My father made it for me out of old equipment he had stored away. He did buy some new Mullard tubes for my Integrated amps preamp. It was very fun to build and learn about different equipment. I love to look at all the things here for sale and look at the neat pictures of different equipment. I don't think I will be changing it any time soon as I am only 10, unless my dad has something for me. Putting my system up here on Audiogon has also been very fun. Thanks JOT.

Congratulations on your new accomplishment! I also applaud your dad for storing the equipment away for you. Be sure to pick up some books on beginning electronics. This could be your introduction. Just do yourself a big favor - until you are skilled in electronics - make sure you only do that with your dad supervising/watching.

Be safe and keep your posts coming!

Welcome to a lifetime hobby! Very nice setup for a first go-round. I'll confess to an unfair advantage when I started accumulating gear as a kid, but I got a love of good sounding reproduction of good music burned into my brain at a very young age. Led me to learning all kinds of stuff about music and audio and electronics. Once you start into building your own gear, you'll have a terrific jump on all sorts of possibilities. Keep at it and keep us all posted! :)

I was about the same age when my father and brother gave me my first stereo and I was overjoyed! I went on to build my own speakers since I couldnt afford to buy any nice speaker. My first systym was an old realistic setup which was tube and was about 10 watts with all the matching parts tuner, and record player. That was all they had back then. I love that you are having the same expirence but just be aware that you will be addicted to this for life. I remeber cutting grass and many other odd jobs to buy my next piece of equipment which was a carve cube. Good luck!

Hi Jot, Welcome to Audiogon. Now that you have your vintage playback system do you plan to listen to any of your dad's vintage music? What kind of music do you enjoy? The real goal of a good system is to enjoy your music to the max. Best luck to you as a budding audiophile.
