Description

Hello,

Some of you were asking for a detailed break down of my system, so here goes ...

I have used/tried many more components and tweaks than those now listed, I've just listed what I'm actually using now.

Best wishes,

Jack Seaton

Components Toggle details

    • TRL/Sony 595
The best bargain in hi-fi in my over 30 years in the hobby. I can't wait until they try modding the more popular units like the Denon 3910.
    • Mapelknoll Airiadne Siganture
This turntable was the design concept of the Walker turntable. I have made a few mods to it, including several different air bearing arms, one of which I am quite proud of
    • Clearaudio InsiderReference
    Clearaudio Insider Reference
    • Koetsu Rosewood Sig Platinum
    Koetsu Rosewood Sig. Platinum
    • Benz Micro Ruby 2
Not my primary, but still has nice qualities
    • van den Hul Grasshopper Gold mkIII
I actually have 4 Grasshoppers, including 2 of the TRL/vdH
    • Tube Research Labs GTP-4
This is the best line stage that I've ever owned. Dynamics (micro and macro), details and resolution, and soundstaging that is tight and very well focused.
    • Tube Research Labs GT-200
Powerful, heavy, dynamic yet has the delicacy of a lower powered amp.
    • Tube Research Labs GT-100
No, I'm not bi-amping. I just bought another pair of GT-100's which I'll take up to the lake cabin during the summer months.
    • Magico 3's
Incredible. Very resolving speaker. Fast, dynamic, and sound SO natural when playing back master reels. I bought the early production model, there have been 2 revisions that I am in the process of aquiring.
    • FIM Gold
6' speaker cables. Stiff, but stay in place when bent to shape.
    • FIM Gold
I'm even using these on my Sony CRT projector and line scaler/doubler on video
    • Scully 270
Modified by TRL, with new electronics and new mechanical throughout, (new drive motors, new capstan motors, etc.) It can play the large 14 inch reels, speeds are 15 IPS and 30 IPS. I have 14 different headstacks mounted on Scully headblock mounts, so that the ideal head can be matched to any of my over 300 production and safety masters. This is my primary source ...
    • RRL Shine Ola, SVW, SDC, LP#9
These guys did their homework and did actually research what is safe and what is not for our valued software.
    • Stillpoints isolation cones
I've found Stillpoints to work exceptionally well on source gear, if it sounds too hard, then I add the HRS Nimbus pucks/nimbus discs under the Stillpoints, or any combo of which. Very tunable.
    • HRS Nimbus Discs/Pucks
Isolation feet placed under any component.
    • Porter Ports 110 VAC receptacles
    Albert's wonderful power receptacles!
    • HRS Aluminum
    GREAT stand

Jes45,

Very interesting system. I would love to see some pictures and more info about the Magico Speakers.

Thank you Mburnstein. The credit goes to all the bright minds/great ears that designed and built what I have bought.

Update: Add Transistor Research Labs ST-225 integrated to the main system. 225 watts/channel, 3 inputs (seperate switch for each channel) and seperate 45 step attenuators for each channel. Price? $5500.

This is an incredible little amp that has changed my entire belief about solid state electronics. I suppose I should write a review ...

Add a Marantz SA-14 modified by Tube Research with the latest updates after 6/20/05. Initial impressions are very good. I will post at the TRL SA-14 thread after this baby settles in a little.

Add TRL/Sony C2000ES and ExtremeAV's Quick Silver to my list. I have a testimonial on ExtremeAV's web site, regarding their Quick Silver paste. (Incredible stuff!)
