Description

Does duty in the home office, keeps me sane while I work at home. Each of the D 240 Mk IIs is bridged to mono. Cabling is mainly PS Audio Statement Plus XLR, with some random Kimber PBJ thrown in for SE duty and Discovery NOS for the TT.

The PH-3SE is a new purchase, will have to see how it compares to the Grade PH-1 I was using. I got no gain out of that thing using a Grade Statement Sonata cart. Switched to a Sumiko Blue Point Special, but that is probably a placeholder until I find a better cart.

The odd part is that the main source doesn't show up... It's a WinXP box connected to a server with 530GB of ripped WAV files on it. The computer is set up with an Waveterminal U24 USB audio interface, which plugs into the Theta with coax. The only drawback is that it routes system sounds to the USB device as well, so you can get some rather loud and disturbing notifications.

It does have a set of analog outs, so it doesn't need a standalone DAC. I haven't actually tried it, but I've been told its surprisingly good. Unfortunately, I think the U24 has now been dropped from production...

can you play music from your comp server via U24 (and its analog out) without a separate DAC (like your Theta), have you tried it like this?

Get much work done in your "office"?
