Description

I like Wu Tang and Wilco, as much as Jessye Norman and Lucinda Williams. Not all music needs (or should) be listened to critically.

Looking to switch to a tube amp. Maybe a Croft, Rogue, VTL, ARC, Cary, I don't know you tell me.

I have had a Melos 111B ( B = phono included )for at least 8 years. I had warmup switch go out once years ago at the beginning, but it has needed nothing else but replacement tubes, and I just started on the 3rd set of those. I realized recently that it is the only piece in the whole system I haven't changed in the quest for improved sound.I never felt the need to, though I do dream of the 333 sometimes when I see them used on Audiogon. My experience with Melos, the company, was good when they existed. My 111B has been great ( even though the light has stopped going green after warmup ). and the couple times I have been in contact with Melos Restorations ( re. tubes ) has gone well also. Oh yeah, did I say I like my 111B? No experience with Croft. I do have a Rega 3 with upgraded wiring on the tonearm and can recommend it highly as well.

I'm using the Revels also and love them. I just bought the Music Hall MMF 5. It's a good beginner table for me

How about an Audible Illusions preamp and maybe a Rega P3 turntable. That's a good starter table in your price range, or possibly one of the Music Hall tables. I'm not familiar with the Croft, and have never owned a Melos. However I have heard the Melos and they sound good enough, when operating. I have 2 friends that did own Melos gear and had many problems. Looks like a nice system on a budget.
Congrats.
