Description

Goal: Let the musical event be reproduced in the most detailed but involving manner. It must move me, not just recover detail for detail sake.

Next upgrades: room acoustics; I am also currently evaluating the Coincident Mk2 Frankenstein monoblocks.

This is a vinyl-centric system centered on the Coincident Phono stage and the Nantais/Lenco/Allnic combo.

System edited: Changed to Linkwitx Orion speaker system. This uncovered a weakness in my front end (Dynavector incompatibility with the Talia, and phono stage). Currently evaluating Allnic 1201 phono stage. The H1200 I have is amazing, big and rich sound, and simple to use.

Divo,
Interesting amplifier change. Many people will suggest push-pull DHT tubes over the DHT SET amps saying same(or very similar) sound quality but with more power.
I`ve remain doubtful about the same sound aspect.
Good SET amps are just different IMO. Do you notice compromise with less power? Any difference in tone quality?

System edited: Sold the Wyetech OPal and Canaries (overkill power for the Ardens) and tried the Sophia 91-01. Way cleaner than the PP Canaries!

Hello Divo, and Charles, to answer your question, I can power my Tannoy HPD 315's (12" Dual Concentric ca 1975, updated to current Prestige cones and surrounds) with as little as 10Wpc, to good effect. With a large VAC EL 34 35Wpc push pull amp, they have all the dynamic properties I need, with very little difference from a Plinius SA 100 MKIII in class A.

Divo, your system is one to admire, one that would be wonderful to hear, and fortunately for you, every day has to be a great listening experience. Congratulations!

Regards,
Dan

Hello,
Divo, what a nice system you have assembled. How much power do your Tannoys require? The Frankensteins are wonderful, but you`re currently using a Canary 339 amp which is always highly praised. This seems like a can`t lose situation for you. I`d like to hear that amp one day.
Best Regards,
