Done! Done! Done!!!

Well, ok . . . . I'm thinking about replacing the Rotel 981 with a McCormack DNA-1 to improve 2-channel performance, and I do still need to add a 40-foot pair of Signal Cable speaker cables for the rears, and some power cord upgrades . . . .

But it's basically done -- I'm happy!

Erik --

Thanks! I want to improve my 2-channel performance next, so I'm looking at adding in a 2-channel preamp with a HT passthrough -- maybe a Sonic Frontiers or something similar. I have to find some more $$$ first, though . . . .

I can't see why NHT went to the aluminum tweeters in the first place . . . . I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that they really prefer them to the original soft models, and I've heard LOTS of people who like the soft tweeters much better. Guess that goes under the heading of "not messing with a good thing . . . ." ;-0)

Tsrart,
After reading your post on the "Are NHT VT2.4's harsh, or is it just me?" thread, I just had to view your system. Very nice indeed. I'm with you, the soft dome tweeters are better than the new aluminum ones. Regards.....Erik

Thanks!!

Actually, I'm having serious second thoughts about that second sub . . . . the Rotel 985 and Lexicon arrived today, and I've discovered the wonderful difference between the old Denon driving my 2.3As and the Rotel driving them (about 60 Hz or so, I would say). Seeing as how the balrog in LotR almost vibrated the remote control off of my coffee table, I'm thinking one sub may be just fine . . . . ;-0)

Me too; Great collection;as in picking the right things.BTW, that second sub is for the neighbors-- right?

System edited: Ended up deciding against the low power Rotel and getting a 130x2 RB981 instead so that I can relieve the 985 of the 4 ohm front speaker duties.

Nice system!
