Description

Have ventured into SET with Jota mono's. 90% Analog. The Vinyl One has a volume pot with 70db gain and no noise. Power cords have really helped. ErnieM's on my integrated subwoofers opened things up.

Hi

I was wondering if you still are usig the DB-100 speakers? Well what do ya know, I've got a pair too. Your still using Art Audio Jota monoblocks? Those are my dream amps. They just don't show up for sale, ever. There's also the very rare PX-25 monoblocks that never come up for sale either. Are you still using a super teeter on your DB-100s? I'm seriously considering getting a supertweeter for my DB-100s. Lastly, a recommendation: I got the Townsend Audio Seismic Podiums. They are transformative. The best $1500.00 I spent in audio. I used them on my prior speakers - VR 4 Silver and was completely blown away by what they did. What improvements did I hear? Everyhing changed for the better. For the first time my speakers were allowed to play in open space not tethered to spkes. The images float in space like never before. I'm now using them with the DB-100s and they sound great. Though I've never heard the DB100s off of the podiums. I had the podiums when the DB-100s arrived. Do the DB-100s have decent bass. Oh yeah. Albert was a genius loudspeaker designer. Especially his crossovers, they are magnificent.

Be Well,
Ira

Richard,

Saw your thread on the damping of the Triplanar.

It is very important to use the damping system. The arm is of rather high mass and thus have a natural resonance that will cause 'woofer pumping'. I have first hand experience... follow the simple photo-copy manual that came with the arm. It is very valuable regarding setup...

Best regards,
DV

System edited: New Thor TA-2000 MKII w/phono. All these pieces have a fine synergy. More folks should try higher efficiency speakers, it opens up so many more choices.

System edited: I'm quite excited to add my system to the forum. The DB-100's will be arriving in less than 2 weeks. I am going to play my amp in triode (42 watts). I think that with 100 db high efficiency speakers less wattage will be better than in ultra linear. A dedicated line will be installed very shortly, as well.

My Rogue amp is a push/pull 60 Watt. I've only had it for about 6 weeks. I didn't feel it pushed my 90 db AAD speakers quite well enough so I pursued higher efficiency and to make a long story short, the Von Schweikert's kind of fell into my lap. They are 100 db and were made primarily to jive with SET amps. But they said my Rogue should sound great with them.

Looks to me like a beautiful system. Could easily (as you insinuated) be used with any tube amp, although I’d imagine you would consider a SET 300B, 2A3, or 45. Unless I missed something, how many watts are you currently using?
