Description

All systems are compromises of one kind or another. The current system follows an Audio Research tube amp ProAc 3 system. Before that: Old Quads with smaller tube amps. And so forth. I could go back to either one of those. Prefer the Totems over the ProAcs.

Goal? Enjoy music a lot. Play with gear a little every few years. Unless my house grows an extra sound room (for a second system) or I win the lottery , no present plans for any new gear.

what i meant was that the person selling the 'claws' is also the person that advertises/sells the beaks. send him an email to see if he has any. good luck.

Aren't claws for floor standing speakers. Mani 2s are bookshelf speakers.

if you go to ebay right now and look for 'totem', he is currently selling the 'claws'. the mani could use a pair per speaker. good luck.

Rbstehno, Do you have a way to check back on your supplier for the beaks? Interested in your source, as your price is wonderfully low. Whenever I pay too much, I slip into depression, and refuse to leave my listening room, for hours on end ;>)

i am in the middle of auditioning the mani-2's. i am replacing a pair of totem model 1's with a rel strata III sub in my audio room with the mani-2's. Totem speakers are very musical, they don't try to get more out of a speaker than what it is designed to do for it's size.
the mani-2's are a fantastic speaker. full range sound from a monitor speaker.
as for the beaks, i use 2 pairs on the model 1's and main-2's. i paid $39 on ebay for a brand new pair. The guy i bought them from sells them every couple of months.
enjoy your system!

Just for fun, the next time used Totem Beaks come up for sale on Audiogon, consider getting the Beaks. They are promoted by the designer of your speakers, although used by owners of other box loudspeakers, too.
For $100 per stereo pair, and a bit of fiddling to find the "right" location on top of your speakers, there can be appreciated a greater sense of three dimensional soundstage, clarity on vocals, and even a little better bass, mainly with a second stereo pair of the Totem Beaks.
This enhancement is cost effective, and easily re-sold, if you are not having fun with them.
It would be cruel and inhuman treatment for an audiophile to give up every type of playing around with gear, in between major equipment changes.

great system. I've got the same table. I see you've got a pretty good cartridge on there. do you happen to have an instruction manual for the Denon, I've been looking for a while?
