A pleasing musical system.

However, there is still room for improvement which can be make.

    • Accuphase E530
Integrated class A 30 Watts amp
    • Marantz SA15-S1

    • Sonus Faber Sonus Faber Concerto Home
This is the new Home series monitor speaker from Sonus Faber.
    • Crystal Clear Audio Studio Reference
The Studio Reference. One of the best interconnects out there in the market. Comparable to the most expensive cables. Real 99.99% pure silver dual braided thick conductor . Insulated with true electrical cotton sleeves. Inner and outer jacket. Terminated with topline Cardas RCA connectors.
    • Cardas SE 15
Optimized for single ended amplifiers and high efficiency loud speakers rated at 100 db or more.
    • Elco HPC-10SP
It is well known that static electrical charges can build on the outer jacket of connector wires as a result of them touching charged surfaces (carpet, wooden floor, wall, hand). These static charges could not only detrimentally affect the sound quality, but also destroy expensive Hi-Fi equipment. Surge protectors that are commonly used to protect equipment are well suited for reducing impulse electrical interferences generated in current-conducting wires. However, these devices are not intended to (and can not) eliminate high-voltage charges on cable surfaces. To resolve this problem, the new power cord is equipped with a Static Dissipative Filler (proprietary product of ELCO Audio, Inc.) electrically connected to the ground/shield wire and ensuring immediate neutralization of forming charges. Power Cord HPC-10SP is equipped with modified hospital-grade Arrow Hart wall plug with gold-over-silver plated contacts (tested at 25 amps). A modified Watt-a-Gate with gold-plated contacts serves as an IEC panel socket plug Here are several features that make your system sing with our top of the line AC power cords: 2x10AWG Power wires** 7AWG Ground** WATTaGATE IEC plug with gold-plated contacts** Gold-over-silver plated, Hospital grade ARROW HART wall plug** Heavy tinned copper shield Other characteristics: Cable diameter - 1.25
    • Shunyata Hydra Model-2
    • 2 Shunyata Venom Silver outlets • 2400 watts @ 20amps continuous • Surge protection (10,000A) • 4 element Venom Noise Filter • Exclusive Shunyata CDA-101 copper 10 gauge wiring • Detachable 20A inlet • All metal chassis
    • Castle OH-T8B/VF
Hi-Fi AV Power Line Filter to clean AC power distributor. Its used on all my equipment except the amp.
    • DIY power cable Audiophile reference 2
This is the power cable used on my SACD player to the Castle conditioner. I brought it from a audio shop. Its a Italian cable.

My personal view :

If u are looking for an affordable SACD player. I think SA15S1 offer that. In term of sound difference between the SA15 & 11, I don't hear much. The only disadvantage of the SA15 is that its only come with Analog RCA out. But anyway, its should not really matter unless u are running longer cable. And of course, SA11 offer more features. There is a filter selection for this model but u are talking about twice the price that u are paying for it as compared to the SA15.

I think its better that u audit the models side by side & do a comparison.

If u are not into SACD, there are really a lot of good redbrook players around. I am thinking of upgrading to a $7K used redbrook player.

I just get back to this hobby recently. I had my first system 15 years ago & given up due to room constrain.

So, do I consider myself a beginner ?

jeremy

LOL, beginner huh?....come on ...own up. IMHO you been at this hobby for a while! Nice Kit - grats!

Jeremy, that isn't the Clever Little Clock (CLC) that has been heavily discussed on another thread? Very nice system.

Hello Jeremy,
your system does not look to bad for a beginner.

I have been thinking about purchasing the SA15 to replace my sony XA333ES.
Did you compare the SA11 to the SA15 some reviews have said there was not alot of difference but some other people I know thought they were very different.

The rest of my system comprises of a Marantz PM14 amp and Warfedale evo 30 loudspeakers.

Blair

Wow. I wish I'd started w/Accuphase and Sonus Faber. This looks like a killer little rig. Swank.

Not really, I get a better soundstage with this distance. However, I am still in the progress of setting up.

I had moved the rack to my bedroom. Currently, equipments are placed on the carpet floor.

Will pose the picture again once ready.

jeremy

Can I just add that your speakers are little bit far away from each other.Maybe not but the feeling I'm getting from the photo...

Hey Bruce30, really appreciate your help but anyway I am still making quite a number of changes to my system.

Will update again once it's ready.

A thousand thanks.

Hey J,
Okay, to respond to your previous post, I noticed that (in the photo) the whole system (both audio & video) is a bit "left of center" (with respect to the apparent center of your space)...any practical (functional) reason for that? I suspect so. Also, the "jumble" of wiring (near the corners and behind each Sonus) seems to be "subtracting" from your EXCELLENT "minimalist aesthetic." Don't worry though, my wiring looks worse (less clean) than yours - to be perfectly honest. My thoughts on the sound -that I described previously- are simply that great "stereophonic sound reproduction" requires a "nearly perfect" (yet highly subjective) balance of interaction with surrounding surfaces from loudspeakers with respect to the listening position. What I'm trying to explain, in other words, is that the placement of your speakers in relation to the room boundaries is both dependent on your personal preference (to a degree,) versus what the room (or, the space's existing acoustical properties "required" by it's size/shape/materials/etc.) are "dictating" (rather precisely, I might add) where you place the speakers in it. There is no "perfect" room and so as a result neither is there a "perfect" location for speakers in it. If you're interested I can offer assistance with finding the "most ideal locations" for your speakers in your "uber-sexy" hi-fi/h.t. lounge. If you decide you are "up to some experimentation" create a fully measured diagram and e-mail to me -or post here on A'gon if you're cool w/that- (so that I may run some calculations to find bass nodes and those types of things) Sometimes it can be little difficult to do remotely, but it'll be fun & informational too! On the left hand side of my stand, there is a clock on the rack. On the rack is there lies my sacd player & amp.

Infront, a sofa for me to sit & appreciate my listening.
Of course, I did not take my plasma ( on the wall ), DVD recorder & tuner ( in the rack cabinet ) into consideration

Regards.

jeremy

It looks like a monitor on the left hand side of your stand. maybe its something else I am not sure

Thanks

Which "little monitor " are u referring to ?

jeremy

Hey,
Whats that little monitor I see on the left hand side? Is that used like a tv for your audio equipment?

Really appreciate your feedback. As I am still learning, I welcome all the advice or feedback from the expert here.

As I used to listening mainly to vocal, pop but not into heavy metal rock, I find that the sound is very musical as what sonus faber is good as it.

What u said is quite correct, I can feel that the sound coming from my right speaker is much pleasing as compared to the left speaker. I tried moving my left speaker ( right side looking at the diagram ) nearer to the side wall beside the kitchen entrance. Soundstage is improved but I still noticed there is a lack of imaging on my left speaker ( maybe the placement of my right speaker is next to a solid wall on the side as u can see from the picture ). As for vocal harshness, I find that its quite ok. My ear don't feel irritated after long hour listening.

Sorry for the bad picture quality ( I used my handphone to capture & download here ).

jeremy

Hey Jeremy,
The room and the system look really great! I am curious though are you noticing a suspicious blurriness or grain to your images as well as a possible vocal harshness emanating from the left side of your soundstage? Keep up the good work!

System edited: Still can improve further. System is o.k for now. I might want to change the outlet sockets & power cable. Might also intend to buy a better conditioner to replace my castle av conditioner on my sacd player.
