Description

This is the system I have built over the last couple of years. The Mac amp and pre are the real heart of it, giving a rich, musical sound. This is not a detail lovers system, but it is totally enjoyable to listen to for extend periods. The subs fill in the bottom end nicely, and are capable of really rocking when needed, but usually aren't even noticed, until you turn them off! This is an apartement system, so placement is less than ideal, the room is kitchen/living room about 20 x 15 x 8. Main speakers are 2 1/2 feet off the walls, one sub sits under each one. The Jags are great speakers, but not efficient. If I were going to replace them I would look for something more dynamic, and perhaps with a little more detail, but w/o sacrificing the listenability of the overall system. I listen to alot of older recordings, not just audiophile stuff, so I need and want a system that is musical first. Not much money at this point for upgrades, I think it is time to tweak, so I am going to do some DIY sandboxes etc. Thoughts? Comments?

*BUMP* Ok, I am looking to make some upgrades/tweaks. Not a ton of money to spend here, my focus is on improving my digital front end, as much as I love LPs I feel I would need to spend some serious money to improve my vinyl set up and I will probably do so in the future. But for now, digital is where it is at for me. I'd like to improve room accoustice, but I am in an apartment and will only be here for another 10 months or so, so I don't really have the flexability to treat the room the way I would like.

So, I would like to get more detail out of my digital. My system is very muscial, but I am finding that it is lacking in the detail department to an extent. Maybe I am just being picky, but if you had say $500 to spend, what would you do to improve things here? Looking for more sparkle, maybe a little more brightness. Thanks.
