Hi Vx, Thanks for the complement. The MBL amps were recommended by David Weinhart at a good price, I could send them back for full credit on another amp. My speakers have 93db efficiency, so the 210 watt amps have not run out of headroom yet.
I did not audition the 5011 for 2 reasons. I have a fully balanced system and the 5011 only has 1 XLR input. I wanted a tube preamp to go with the solid state amps.
I listen to classical, jazz and vocal. I sit 12 feet from the speakers and about 3 feet from the back wall. This is the only way I could set up the room because the entrance to the house is off the left side of my sitting position.
The amp stands are Brightstar boxes designed for Cary 805 AV amps. The Cary's were stolen and the MBL's work good mounted with Mapleshade triple point footers. The floor is suspended and the sand boxes work the best. If you look close, the sand boxes are mounted on a Polycrystal amp stand.
Hi Marty_t, very nice set up, looks like a lot of work went into matching system.
What made you pick the MBL amps? How do you like there sound, imaging, bass, mid-bass? Do they ever run out of headroom? Did you audition the MBL 5011 preamp prior to the purchase of the Aesthetix pair? What type of music are your cranking up?
Room looks great- how far do you sit away from speakers? Have you considered a pr of amp stands in lieu of 1 stand?
