Description

This music system has many old-school elements that I have grown to love and have decided to build the rest of the system around. From the Linn turntable, which I've been upgrading for 15 years, to the Matrix 800 speakers that I discovered in the mid 90's, I still enjoy listening to music on it as much as any new system today. But the secret really is the room. I was fortunate enough to find an old house which has a living room that is 40'x25' with 11' ceilings. It is a rather live sounding room, but it does not cause any major room modes that are a problem. With a room this size, you really need a strong pair of speakers and amps to drive it, and the combination of the B&W's with the JL Audio subwoofer is up to the task.

Hello,

I was searching B&W matrix 800's here on Audiogon and came across you. I also own a pair of Matrix 800's. Mine are in black. I also own and use a LP12 on them. I have had mine for around 12yrs now. What series are yours? Mine are series 2 and have gold tweeters. I have seen some with aluminum colored tweeters before. Do you happen to know the difference between series 1 and 2?

Thank You,
Mike Vallely
