Actually, the Kyocera I got was the DA310cx, I guess more comperable to the DA410cx in your daughter's system. Now, I know comparing the DA310cx to my Onkyo DX1400 is not comparing two high end audiophile CD players to each other, but I find that the Kyocera has a slightly more "grainy" sound than the Onkyo, and the Bass seems slightly less refined, or maybe, I should say the bass sounds less "exact". I am terrible at trying to describe subtle differences in sounds in words.
For me, I think I get used to the way a component sounds. I think I liked the sound of the Onkyo CD player, I have had it for about four years. I really like the sound of the "Camber" speakers I have, no matter what kind of "mid-fi" amplification I throw at them. -JB

I am impressed with your systems. I notice that you have a Kyocera CD player in your home office system and your daughter's system. How do those players sound?, especilally in your home office system, since you recently swapped players in that system, and have a direct comparison. Was your "audio refinement" CD player newer than the Kyocera? I have alwalys liked the looks of Kyocera equipment, from the first time I saw and ad in "Stereo Review". There are a couple Kyocera CD players on E bay right now. I do not consider my system an "audiophile" system, but it is better than most (at least out here in the mountains of southwestern Virginia) I would be feeding the Kyocera into a 1983 Yamaha A700 integrated amp and Camber (made in Canada, no longer in business) speakers. Are any of your special interconnects used between your CD player and the preamp? (I use "Radio Shack" standard interconnects, nothing remarkable, but I use them for every component, for consistency and cheapness.) I presently have an Onkyo DX 1400 CD player; I can't say anything extraordinary about it. It will get moved to my kitchen system, which is only an old Technics analog tuner, an old Kenwood integrated amp, and a BX 125 Nakamichi tape deck, and another pair of Camber speakers.
