Description

Recently added Ayre Components: V1xe & K1xe plus C5xeMP in all smooth black. I have 2 two V1xe's and am playing with active biamping with 2 Ayre's vs Ayre + Cal Audio, vs Vlxe alone. Started with just Behringer crossover to see what differences are vs stock crossovers. Will add Marchand xm 44, 26 or 126 or Pass XVR pending how it sounds.

Any recommendations welcomed.

Akozar, if you're anywhere near the DC area, Gifted Listener Audio in Chantilly, VA has the Ayre monoblocks hooked up to Maggie 20.1's. Very nice system you've got there, I also am waiting for the full-range Maggie center...maybe this year?
Go Irish!

System edited: Upgrade to 20.1s is complete and 3.6s are now gone. Incredible improvement in base presence, tone and complexlity. Overall improved dynamics and better depth in soundstage. Overall more you are there. At same amp level, 20.1s are 3-4 dbls lower than 3.6s. Next quest is Rives level 2 vs change in AMP & or CDP. I have settled on Ayre C5xe. I am coveting the MXr monos as well, but cannot afford them until they would be reasonably priced used. May go for used V1xe monos first. For preamp I am eyeing the ARC multichannel or reference 2 ch or Ayre K1xe. Any thoughts wellcome for best choice in my next upgrade.

System edited: I have changed a few things in the last couple months. Sold the CAL SSP/VP/DVD and added first the McCormack MAP-1 and Arcam DV27A. Then swapped MAP for a used Bel Canto Pre-6 Gen II. Addition of synergistics for the fronts have helped the 2 channel sound !

Woa! Using Maggie 1.6 for surround?! You're either in a huge room, or going for total overkill surround! I can only dream of what the Maggie 3's sound like with the Cal 500wpc! I'm only scraping along with biamping 1.6's at 2x200wpc ;-) I'm using twin Vandersteen 2W subs to complement the weak low end of the 1.6's.
I know exactly what you mean about huge soundstage. It's as sweet as it gets!
I'd love to see pics of your set up!
Keep on enjoying the Immensity of it all!
