restock,
i had an apogee mini dac before, i quickly sold it after i got my lavry. the apogee sounds a bit muddy when compared to the lavry.
its been awhile since i was able to get my hands on a benchmark, but afaik the benchmark can be quite picky when it comes to system matching, so if you are going to try the benchmark, make sure you will be able to resell or return it without losing money.
the lavry produces a "tight fast sound" with proper equipment matching and power conditioning.

Tiberian, how do you like the Lavry DAC? What other did you have a chance to compare it to?

I am trying to built up a hard drive based system possibly using Apple Powerbook, a HagUSB, and possibly the Lavry DA10. I am trying to get a DAC that is a bit different from my main digital source, an Audio Aero Prima CDP, and would prefer a tight fast sound for the DAC.

All the best,

Rene

hi all,
i got the standard woodies (no screen). they provide a very improvement in isolation, and the imaging gets much better with them as well.

Hi Tiberian,

Sweet little rig you got there!

I used to have a pair of Senn 580's and they were extremely comfortable, insanely effecient, and VERY enjoyable overall. Despite these strengths, I ditched them in favor of closed headphones. While I appreciated the full open back approach Senn used, they just didn't do rock, blues, jazz, or anything with a kick drum justice. I was constantly putting my hands over the screens. While others praise the design, it seemed (to me) to be their only fault. I'd really like to get another pair of Senns and try a pair of those cups, now!

For your 650's- did you go with the screened or standard version of the woody??

Worth the money? How did it change things?

Thanks!

Very nice headphone setup and great selection of components. I have been curious about the Lavry DAC - there have been tons of good comments on head-fi.org.

By chance I do have the Haley as well. Lowered the noise floor on my tube set-up dramatically.

I totally understand, I just spent $6K on a system but there's something about my Grado's and AKG head phones that I find myself always going back to. I really enjoy it...

And what would be the name of the flea powering this rig?
