Description

I recently traded in my Dynaudio Confidence 5 for the Talon Khorus X Mark 2. I am now looking for a kid-friendly tube amp that will mate well with the rest of the system. My friend has the Tenor that sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't have that kind of money. I am looking for something in the 5k range used or new.

Next logical step should be Sonic Frontiers Power 3SE! Look no further, as no amp in the price range can compete.

I own these speakers and a simply great match is the Bruce Moore Dual 70 - $4300 new. I have tried many amps and this one is simply the best on this speaker. No need to spend more. Several of us Khorus owners own it! I must try.

I'd go with VTL MB450.
It's just a cheaper "Manley" amps and you can trust me on that.
VTLs have the best power for the buck spent among all tube amps.
Manleys have extra switchable features that can be also added to any VTL amplifier but in overall they're just more expencive offering the same performance and design.

Right now thier is 8 MC-240 on the Gon these classic Mcintosh are one of the best buys!!. Buy two and run them as Mono blocks, rated to deliver 80 watts but will give you 110 watts before soft cliping,And one of the best things here is they will be worth more down the road.MC 240 amps one of the very best hands down .6L6Gc the best sound.I have two running as Mono blocks now .and this Friday (8-01-03)I should be gitting my Talon Khorus. You can't go wrong with Mac's, tube friendy.More power cleaner sound and ones you own Mac's you can't go back too others Amps!!!!!

Hi, All the above selections are good but I would highly recomend the Manley Labs Neo-Classic 250 mono-blocks. They are like no other versitle with the triode, pentode choices, great to lok at and above all solid in build and sound. There are a used set here on AudiogoN at $5200 right now. I have no connection with the sellar just endorsing a great amp. And there are several others besides myself that will say the same. One purchased them instead of the Tenor's. I won't part with mine as they just have the ability to do things that will constenly amaze and please you. Mine have been extremely reliable and others that I know say the same. Good luck and be a Manley man! Tech help and service is superb.

I suggest you to try out a Berning amp. If you treat this amp real well with all tweaks it will sound much much much better than Tenor monoblocks. The Berning amp costs only $4500.00 (used $3200.00) compare to Tenor ($25,000) used only $12,000.00. I love this Berning amp so much since I bought it last year with all NOS tubes. I did compare between Berning and Tenor (at my friend house)but I still want to keep the Berning even though I can afford to buy the Tenor monoblocs. Good luck.
