Description

First of all, sorry for my poor English ,I do not speak English often so could not express real well unlike many of friend here.

I am a Singapore audiophile who been in this hobby for 20 years, I do not have a big room for my HiFi system from the beginning until now, so for poor guys like us we have to study hard on room acoustic in order to squeeze in big floor standing loudspeaker into the room...LOL!

Now my music room size is about 9'8" W by 13 '++ D by 8'6" H ,and to use a speaker that able to produce 20 hz to 100 Khz -2db (....OK, OK, in spec only...) loudspeaker into it, careful system/cable matching and and Room acoustic treatment is very very important....so far so good ,most of the visitor , whether like or do'nt like the sound I tuned , did not complain the sound of my system is overpower or bad or imaging/soundstage is too upfront with the help of the Diffuser and acoustic foam/fiberglass panel/bass trap.

My hope is my wife will allow me to built a bigger room in our small apartment hall for my HiFi system....

Joanmonte; it's fun to 'mess around'.

for 9 years i was in a somewhat small room (18' x 12' x 10') and for the first 5 years that i was in that room i had pieces of foam that i moved all over the room from place to place learning and experimenting to find the right balance. eventually i did find a balance that optimized the various issues. looking back it was a fun process and one i'm happy to have gone thru. in that room the music had an immersive intimacy that i loved. it has taken me a couple of years in my new larger room to find that quality that i had really valued.

enjoy the path you are on and the place you are at. large spaces have their challenges too.

and thanks for the kind comments.

To Linnie01 , thank you...err...its actually not a "cool space" because of the mono block tube power amp is running real hot......LOL ! Just kidding....

To Mikelavigne , Wow!! never expect you will give comment on my humble music room....I study a lot of you posting on how you build your ultimate room, learn a lot from those post.

And you are right about the sound , world class or not I dont know, but the system can sound quite detail , fast and involving when its in good time........but the problem with me is, I am a trouble maker that like to mess around with those room treatment stuff (you can see I almost have different room treatment method in every photo....LOL..) to try different effect, so sometime (many a time in fact) it can sound terrible when I did something wrong...

Joanmonte; congrats on your room. yes, it's small but you have done a fantastic job (from the pictures) to optimize it.

i applaud your choice of speakers; i cannot think of a better one for your room regardless of price. i love the Coltranes.

my guess is that you have world class immediacy and involvement.

enjoy your very special place!
