This is a very well thought out system. I became more and more interested as I read about it.

The Aesthetix Callisto and IO respond wonderfully to high grade NOS tubes. Have you experimented with any or stayed with stock?

Congrats on your system! I have been in a similar path, mixing comercial products with mods to the speakers. I have lots of Duelund Cast caps and inductions in my external crossovers, they provided a great upgrade.

In terms of resistors, I recently replaced the Duelund Cast, with Path Audio resistors and my system reached a new level, so you may want to try them.

Thanks Charles!The system sounds good now imo. The last couple of years have been an audiophile adventure for me. I sold my Avantgarde Duo Omegas with just a vague idea where to from there. It had to be horns to match my 300b Border Patrol which i love! Nice to hear that the expensive Duelund componnents are woth the money spent. My experience with the resistors was so convincing that i have to check out what the caps and inductors can do.

This is a very nice system you have,it must sound devine.
I placed Duelund CAST capacitors in my speakers and DAC.Unquestionable improvement and although expensive it was worth every penny spent!
Your Border Patrol`s wood chassis is quite attractive.

I just placed my order for the Duelund stuff. I have only the CAST resistor in my crossovers at this time. Estimated deliverytime for the components is 10weeks so it will be some time until i can say something about the North Creek/Duelund CAST inductors, but i am really looking forward to hear what the Duelund components can do here. I'll check out the Jupiter caps! Thank you for the input!

Have you had a chance to compare the Cast inductors against your North Creek? I had 8awg North Creek inductors ( very good) and replaced them with 8 awg Cast.

I will leave out my opinion until you have conducted your own listening test.

The thread you posted your choice to go with Duelund, you mentioned using Mundorf on the mids. I would also consider using the Jupiter HT or Jupiter VT. For the mids I think you will like this cap.

Good points indeed. One thing that really bugs me is when someone "upgrades" his equipment by simply installing the most expensive caps or some other part. It just isn't that simple. You have to invest a lot of time as well as money to find out how different parts sound and only then can you figure out what combination of parts is truly an upgrade.

Thank you Saletric. I have learned a lot from my DIY Projects and i am quite sure that DIY "cost no object" done right are pretty unbeatable. I feel more confident going DIY as an experienced audiophile than a newbie because a critical factor imo is knowing what you want. Unfortunately many audiophiles starts out with DIY only never to get the results they want, giving up the DIY path and buying commercial products. The problem lies in the many opportunities to alter the sound from the component, and lack of guts/knowledge/funding to put enough money into the project to get full potensial of the opportunity to build without thinking of calculations and profit.

Very nice system BeerGut! I like how you have brought together DIY components and commercial pieces. Like you, I am using Duelund CAST caps and North Creek inductors in my speaker crossovers. They seem to work very well together.
