Hey Audiogoners,

It's been several years since I uploaded a photo so here's the latest.

Still enjoying my classic, oldie goldie equipment as much as ever, with no audio upgrades planned. Buy once and be happy, without chasing the holy grail, continues to be my motto.

Went all digital last year saying goodbye to my LP12 and a myriad of pristine vinyl. iPod has changed me forever.

Recently upgraded the television and blu-ray player.

Nonetheless, all this equipment is just a means to an end to massive music enjoyment. I do not need an expensive system to enjoy music as I've learned with other, much less expensive, audio gear, in other rooms of the house.

Thanks much!!  I bought my Thiel’s brand new in 1988 for $1,650.  It was a lot of dough back then, but I am still enjoying them today, so they have more than paid for themselves.

I have another simple Linn system with KEF LS 50’s…it’s also posted.

I have been with Linn since 1982 and love their stuff.  Unfortunately, current Linn kit is way beyond my budget but it’s ok.  I have never been an upgrade hound as a music lover first and foremost.

What’s your system (s)?

With 2 LK140’s and 1 LK85, I obviously love the small, great sounding Linn chassis amps.  Both are excellent.  Which one to get?  I’d say it depends on what speakers you are driving and overall availability on the used market.  I’d say go for the LK140 (more power to nicely drive more speakers, especially 4ohm, and better availability on the used market.)  

I also recommend buying from an authorized Linn dealer, if possible, for a better experience.  They also tend to get the best Linn trade in’s.  Patience is key when waiting for mint LK’s….the smart owners simply do not trade them very often for good reason.

The Majik is another great piece.  Enjoy!!  Nothing wrong with Meridian.  Hard to know how it will sell (individually or collectively)?

Always really liked your gear.  I have a Linn Majik IL and toying with the idea of pairing it with an LK85 or LK140, I hear they are both excellent.  What is your opinion?

I also have a Meridian 551 integrated & 504 tuner, I absolutely love the 504 & think the Majik outperforms the 551, but may sell the Meridian gear as a set as I think it may be more appealing that way.

Thank you!!!  There’s 2 systems here for 2 rooms.   The B&O speakers are hanging on the wall in the library (not shown).  I think you also commented on my other Linn sunroom system?  I appreciate it.

Yep we are still enjoying all of them in 2022, problem free.

You also had a great Linn system in the 90’s.

I’m sure the new Linn gear of today sounds terrific…but its way above my pay grade.

Love it. Everything you need to enjoy music and tv/movies. Sad to see your LP12 go. I'll always have a TT and a number of keeper LPs. As a past owner of classic Linn '90s gear (Majik, Klout, Karik III) I can really appreciate this system, and have wondered how Linn sounds today.

16f4...thanks so much!  You summarized my approach perfectly.

My wife designed the cabinet when we built our home back in '96.  At the time, we only had a 32" CRT TV so now we can only fit a 43" flat screen...but no biggie as a low level TV watcher.

Love your music philosophy.  Why spend all your time and money chasing equipment, it just takes time away from music. Buy good quality stuff that will last you a long time and get on with it. And such a beautiful cabinet!

Indeed! It's about music enjoyment, not spending money like a drunk, only to come full circle. Seen numerous posts like this over the years.

I've heard massively expensive systems all over the country and I'm rarely impressed at how much better they sound than mine. Pretty crazy stuff!
