Thanks guys, the floors are vinyl stick down type.  The house was flipped by a pro and it took me about a week to figure out that the floors were vinyl and not a floating perfo type.  I figured I would just cover the floors with rugs regardless.  The ceiling has no drop-it was sprayed black as it increases percieved hight.  But this also does not have any sound absorption, so I coated about 60% of that half of the basement with 2" pyramid foam in dark gray.  Quieted things down a lot.  One foot by one foot squares simply nailed to the ceiling in between the joists.  The nice part is it doesn't look tacky as you can't even tell its there visually unless you look directly overhead.

Great room! Are those real hardwood floors? Vinyl? Laminate? I'm considering a basement renovation and I'm looking at different flooring options. The porcelain tiles that look like wood are great, but I'm concerned that tile is just too reflective. Thanks!

Thank you Migueca.  I just bought this house in November-so it's been really fun setting up the system in a new room.  Having some noise issues with the analog front end but I'll eventually address that with a couple dedicated lines with quality receptacles.

I dream about having a dedicated basement!
Congratulations on your audio room, it looks like you are on your way to Nirvana.
