Maybe it is because I just came in from church. But when I saw the pics of your system, I let out a Hallelujah!!!

MeJames, very nice system you've assembled. I'm sure it sounds quite good.

well I discovered all metal wire has certain types of sonic distortions which you usually don't think are caused by the wires you blame other components etc. for what your hearing and it's really the wires fault, you will never realize this until you've heard the cyberlight cables. The cyberlight cables have none of the metal wire distortions people are used to hearing the most common distortion would be described as a forced or stressed type presentation especially during loud musical peaks. another could be described as metal having a slightly grainy not 100% smooth sounding character. the cyberlight has none of these metal wire distortions whatsoever it never sounds stressed or grainy you can't believe all the distortions you are used to hearing from metal wires. a metal wire is kind of digital type sounding description the cyberlight more analog type sound. The XLO sounds slightly grainy and slightly more forced/stressed sounding compared to the cyberlight. cyberlight has better high frequency response and air without sounding etched also is more delicate than the XLO. the cyberlight has more subtle detail retrieval also the soundstage is also wider than the XLO. the upper bass on the XLO has more weight and is warmer sounding than the cyberlight this is the only flaw I can really complain about on the cyberlight it's a revolutionary cable in my opinion. yes converting the signal to light and back to signal again has sonic drawbacks but it still sounds better than metal wires do.

Mejames: Can you write a little bit more about your new HT cables, especially in context of your old XLO ICs ?

System edited: slight change but a significant upgrade definitely if you haven't heard the harmonic technology cyberlight cables I urge you to try a pair their amazing.

Hi MeJames.

I know you told me that the infini caps are very worthwhile for either a 450 or 750. Wondering if you have done the super balanced input upgrade or now of anyone who has.
I have the opportunity to buy a new/demo rew 750 which is curent except for the super balanced input.
VTL said the following
The Super Balanced Input further improves the common mode noise rejection of the amplifier, removes any ground loop hum and improves its sonic characteristic by opening up the top end and making the sound much more effortless and dynamic. Yes the sonic change makes the amp sound closer to the S-400 whereas the older version of the balanced input stage gives the amp a more classic tube sound. I would say a little rounder, darker velvety sound.

Based on this I may like the older balanced version.

System edited: still trying to get better pictures via editing any suggestions for a good picture editing program? also trying a bat vk 5i preamp lately no pictures yet thinking about adding a sistrum equipment rack what do you think good idea?
one more question what's the maximum size system picture postable on Audiogon?

Dennis hello actually I feel a stock Wadia 861 is more accurate sounding and neutral than the Audio Aero Capitol 2 player the Capitol is a little warmer than reality in the upper bass and lacking a little in ultimate detail retrieval. The Capitol sounds excellent until you directly a/b compare it to something better then you start hearing the Capitols colorations which you hadn't noticed before at all.The Wadia 27ix 270 transport combination is easily better than the Capitol was but the great Northern sound statement modified Wadia 861 is in a class by itself above all of these listed above. the statement player is so much better than the stock 861 it sounds like it entirely different player was better in every sonic parameter possible I am still shocked at the difference the modifications made.

mejames

hi Mejames... so it looks like you went from an audio aero to a modified wadia? some would say that that is a step backwards, but i'm curious to hear your thoughts on the two...

if the room was 30x35 they may be beneficial but it's only 23x20 so the 201 has way more bass than necessary the recommended starting bass level of 20 is currently set at 12 on the bass amplifier/crossover the level goes up to 45 I believe never had it above 20.

Very nice system, however I don't think this is the end, how about a pair of Genesis 1.1

Capitol has balanced and RCA variable outputs no preamp necessary.

I see speakers, CD player, & interconnects. Does the Audio Aero Capitol Mark II CD Player have volume control or an integrated amp?

I love Arnie Nudell's speakers, being an owner of many of his older models.
