The Audio reserch phonostage is a good match for any good front end, and the PH-7 is a fine product however I go to the ASR basis exclusive.

My main love of music weighs heavily in smooth jazz however classic rock, classical, and gospel are also in my collection. Ahhh yes...the First Sound! What a truly unbelievable component. I really have to say that I thought that I had a really nice high end system before installing this preamp. I didn't have a clue what I was missing. I've noticed when a First Sound component appears here on the Gon that it normally receives over 200 hits on its first day! If a person has not heard this preamp, (especially with a great pair of Siemens Halske NOS tubes) I truly feel they may have not really heard music the way it's intended to be. I feel the First Sound is my BEST component. I build my system around it. I hope you have the opportunity to hear one for yourself. I have a significantly better appreciation for music since I bought it. I have a Presence Deluxe Mk II in my home office system. Bang for the buck?? In Spades! (to quote an old Stereophile term)
