I really like the DAC as it was a big improvement over the Ayre Codex I had previously. It's much more natural sounding to me than the Codex which seems to make things a bit bigger than life. I do enjoy Ayre digital products in general and I enjoyed the Codex for many years. I had been planning on getting the Aesthetix Romulus CD/DAC but when the Mimas came out I was so impressed that I changed my whole system around to accommodate it.

The DAC is one of the most open and airy digital products I’ve heard. The bass is rich, full, and weighty and gives the music a great foundation. It reminds me of the Modwright Logitech Transporter that I owned for many years and gives me similar enjoyment. If I am ever able to place my turntable near the Mimas I will add the phono stage as well.

I'm sure the Mimas and your Vandersteens will sound great together

Your system looks great. I'm interested in your comments on the DAC as I'm planning on purchasing the Mimas (retirement gift for me:>) soon and the DAC is something I was planning on,  Good to read that in your system, you really like the sound.  Like you, I also have a MS Nova (III) and its pretty new,  And as I'm currently using it with an AVR (waiting on the Mimas), I don't think I've really gotten to "hear it" in my system.  Plan on using it first with Mimas and can upgrade in time with phono from Jim.

I have 3 SIgs in my system, and do plan on using them for some time as I save up for the next Vandersteen model....thanks, David

(Hope you don't mind me using this spot for these comments.  Was not sure how to message.

Thanks! I find the Aesthetix DAC card to be more natural sounding and musical than the Codex. I still think the Ayre is a good DAC but the Aesthetix is in a different league. Especially since I took Jim White's advice and plugged the Mimas directly into the wall using his stock power cord.

Incredible system, great to see another Mimas owner. How do you like the DAC card compared to the Ayre DAC?

Just replaced my Ayre Codex DAC with the Aesthetix internal DAC for the Mimas integrated amplifier. Sounds great and one less set of interconnects and power cord.

Just swapped out my Harbeth SHL5+ for Vandersteen Treo CT's. Ever since hearing this system at the Audio Connection I had to have it. It sounds even better at my house.

Sorry, I didn't touch this page until today. Since I sold my house I needed to assemble a loft friendly system that sounded great at low volumes. My previous systems were based on Vandersteen speakers and always sounded great but low volumes were not their forte. I still love Vandersteen but this system is extremely musical and give me hours of musical pleasure.

Very simplistic/quality setup.  Good looking too with your Harbeths and rack.  How does this compare to some of your larger and more expensive systems you’ve had previously?  Enjoy! Best....
