Description

When I got a new apartment, I decided to get a decent stereo. Did some research, auditioned a lot, and did some serious Audiogon buying to maximize bang for the buck. Have been happy, although my cd player has been having some power issues and is off to the shop. Fortunately, these power problems drove me to give vinyl a try and I love it!

Would love ideas for best bang for buck tweaks (i.e. Ringmat for TT; anything involving power; whatever) and next step in terms of upgrade --which component to tackle next -- TT, CD player, speakers, or amp -- and any specific thoughts there. Also, any general thoughts. Thanks!

N.B. I also have a downstairs system which is a bit more for home theatre with respectable audio output (Marantz SR-8000; Sony DVP-S9000ES; Acoustic Energy Auegis 2 speakers) which does a fine job -- room set up downstairs is great.

Looks like a nice system Gheon. You don't list your preamp. What do you have?

Nevertheless, if you or your SO don't mind, room treatments really help the sound out. I was skeptical myself at first, IMHO treating the room is equivalent to a component upgrade only much cheaper!!!!! Eighth Nerve sells reasonably priced treatments. You can take these with you when you move. Here is the link.

Good luck and keep us up to date on your changes.
