- Rockport Technologies Ankaa
Beautiful pair of Ankaa's, manufactured 2008, pristine piano black delivered to me in heavy wooden crates, wonderful sound top-to-bottom.
Quiet, dynamic preamplifier from Pass Labs, purchased from Reno Hi-Fi (really one of my favorite audio stores, great to deal with, nice Pass inventory at realistic prices). This preamp is a great match with the Rockports.
Superlative power amplifier with 6922-based input section and MOSFET output.
Phono preamp with 4 E180CC twin triodes yields buttery mid range and fantastic imaging.
After working through several media server, I concluded that I was making it too complicated, and an "all-in-one" media player would be a better solution for me. I am primarily a vinyl guy, but I'm also adept in the digital world and have assembled a large collection of hi-res files. Really, this Sony is the last stop for me, it is reliable, sounds great, and nice to look at. No more external DAC's, just a single media server that connects directly to my preamp, analog-wise.
- VPI Industries Classic Signature
Beautiful design from Harry W, with the laser cut 10.5 arm, speed control from an Eagle PSU, and several other updates.
- Dynavector Te Kaitora Rua
Lovely cartridge that does it all -- superb resolution, singing treble, dynamic bass, and an overall presentation that performs above its *considerably pricey" ask. Difficult to get aligned at 100% in this arm, I must admit, but you can tell when you finally have it right. A WOW analog piece.
My centerpiece for power distribution and protection of all components. Based on one very heavy toroidal isolation transformer, a beast of a power unit -- you can hear the difference.
Full loom throughout. I have tried many other cables, I think Nordost cables are "honest" in presentation with very little coloration and incredible balance and clarity.
