Hi Dave -

Thanks for the help. However, I decided to go in a completely different direction. I wasn't altogether happy with the CBII, so I sold it and picked up a dCS Delius dac/preamp & a dCS Purcell upsampler. What a significant difference. By the time I'm ready to do home theater, technology, I'm sure, would've changed several times over. So for now, I'm in two channel heaven. Currently looking to audition a pair of Halcro DM58 monos with the watt/puppy 8s.

Hey Ray,

Welcome to the world of Theta gear! What type of DACS are you using in the CB? You can tell if it's a CBII by looking at the front plate. It would be on the upper lefthand side. Do you know if this unit was upgraded or was it bought as a CBII(not that it makes a difference IMO). You can bypass the DACS by setting the CB to Analog Direct on any input via the front panel. The only reason why one would want to do that would be if your using a phono stage or if the DACS in that component are better than the CB. Just use your RCA outputs on you CD player. Then plug them into the back of the Theta. Still waiting on the CBHD upgrade. The is a You Tube video on the AVS forum.

Hi Dave -

My name is Ray & I just purchased a CBII, I think. I love the idea of the open architecture that makes this unit future proof. I do endeavor to get the upgrades when my recreational funds permit. In the mean time, I hope the enjoy the CBII for many moons. Right now I have an Audio ReQuest media server on order, which'll allow me to download and store over 300 CDs & 200 DVDs with a terabytes worth of memory. I have Wilson WP8s (recently acquired) driven by PBN Denali mono amps (900W @ 4 ohms). Until my server comes in, I'm running an old CD changer using toslink cable into the CBII. You mentioned in a thread that one can bypass the DACs by choosing Analog Direct. Is that an option for me if I'm using a digital in? Stereo mode is great, but would certainly like to hear what it sounds like via Analog Direct. Also, is there a way to determine if I actually have a CBII as opposed to a CBI or a CBIII? And BTW - thanks for being the in-house CB expert.

I like them. Not too many people i know have this type of setup. Honestly your the first that I seen that use the Enterprises with the 802's. Many that have the B&W speakers use McIntosh Amps or Classe. I've heard mixed reviews on all of them. These are also my first monos. I think they perform very well and provide plenty of power. I got them for a great price to boot. I upgraded the connectors on the amps to the Reich style and well as the dual connects for double runs. In the past I've owned the 803's and Paradigm Ref 100's. Past Amp were Parasound,Rotel, and Adcom(in the early days).

How do you like your Theta Enterprises? What did you use in the past?

I am in same boat, when they added an addition on the house they did it in basement too so we have 1500 sqft on both floors, a barn in back yard allows me all storage I need so we have an HT, Pool Room (future), Bar area, a craft room for Liz.......so we are lucky like you but I am really hoping to get some bar stuff soon to add to the look.

I choose triads because they fit the room better. Plus my installer could get them for a great price. They match well with 803's. PJ is a DLP and works great. Plus it has an adjustable lens which I needed. I got most of the beers signs from ebay. The basement is about 1000 sq ft so I have alot of space for the Pool Table / poker table(Not shown) still have room for a bar. It's really a space I love to be in as much as possible.
Thanks for looking!!

Looks great, nice system and space you have there, I bet it sounds fantastic! How come no BW surrounds (I use the 600 series Di-pole on walls and they work great, you can switch them out of Di-Pole for music)
I run a Panasonic LCD Projector, is yours LCD or DLP?
our plase is a work in progress that I want to end up like yours, My music room and HT are next to seperate bar room area in basement and hope to place a pool table in main basement area someday, I am disabled so dont shoot much pool but it would be nice to have for kids and get togethers.....where did you get all your beer signs?
