Description

My 2 channel audio is system is in evolution. I use the system to listen primarily to unamplified music such as opera, piano, and small ensemble music (classical and jazz, although I would like the system to produce rock and roll and blues in a realistic and enjoyable manner. I am using my DVD player as the source while a search for a more permanent solution (I sold my Cal Audio CL-15 CD player). I am intrigued by the Merdian 508.24, but am also considering a used Naim (CD5, CDX without XPS, CDSII?), Wadia (850 vs. new 301?), Sony SCD-1, and Marantz SA-14 or SA-1. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Your set up is good, but i would get the Naim CDX. Its a killer!!! I would also consider Maggies. The 1.6's will blow away most speakers under 5 grand. I know,I have owned most of the competition and then some.If you go with the maggies try a Sierra Audio Whitney Amp,i know from experience. This is the set up i have.It will do all you have described above and leave you musically satisfied without the need to get the flavor of the month club.
