Description

GARBAGE IN-  GARBAGE OUT!  Source is everything!

Enter my prized Lumin T-2.  And more recently the Elac ARB51 active speakers earlier this year.

Source resolution is vital to hearing other changes down the chain.  I am rediscovering various tweaks that I could not 'hear' due to lack of resolution from even a decent Node 2i streaming source.  Removing the preamplifier(Lumin Leedh Processing) from the equation also greatly increased transparency and resolution, without the downsides from a passive preamp.

Granted, I had slightly more overall transparency with my Atmasphere OTL S-30 amp in the loop coupled with my vintage Alon Petite speakers, but it was less rounded and realistic as my current setup.  Gotta sacrifice somethin'!

Not having to worry aout matching amplifiers with speakers is one less headache in my busy schedule.

Fair warning:  I am a tweaker at heart.

    • LUMIN T-2
Bought new and holy moly this is an upgrade from the Node 2i.  Resolution and details creates a more realistic sound.  Leedh volume processing is the future as no downsides like passive preamps and no colorations like active preamps.  Flabbergasted.  Upgraded fuse did make a difference.
    • High Fidelity Cables MC-6 Hemisphere
10A version for my Active speakers only.
    • Audience Forte F3
Warm sounding PC for my Lumin.
    • Wireworld Eclipse 8 XLR 2 meter pair
    Lumin to speakers.
    • Cisco C-2960C Switch
    Bang-for-the-buck in switchland.
    • AV Roomservice EVP isolator
HD version with felt:  Easy to use and seems to clean things up a bit.  Placed under my Lumin T2.
    • Elac ARB-51 active speakers
Tell you what.  These are one of the more REAL sounding speakers I have heard.  Slightly on the warm side of the spectrum and maybe slightly closed in top end.  Bass belies belief.  Maybe not the last word in resolution either.
    • AudioQuest Thunder HC PC
A very well-balanced sounding cord with improvement across the board.  no glaring weaknesses.  makes one wonder what their higher spread is like.  Used to power my Elac speakers to great effect.
