Quad 57s Electrostatic Solutions rebuilt

Quad 57s rebuilt by ElectroStatic Solutions. Of the several companies rebuilding old Quads, these are, by far, the best.
So much so that estatsolutions.com Kent McCollum is now the Quad factory authorized service center. And Kent is, perhaps, the #1 expert on all things Quad. And his rebuild of these not only brings the 57s fully up to the factory specs of the original, his rebuild makes them perform well beyond the original and all others. Known to be deficient in bass and treble, Kent replaces the old Mylar with Mylar much thinner than the original. Because of this, their bass and treble are no longer nearly as lacking. These are my second pair. I lived with my first pair for most of the '90s. When I saw this rare pair of used ElectroStatic Solutions ones, I bought them about 2 years ago. Delighted to have 57s again and Kent's great ones,I was sure that I would live with these for ever. That is until Quad recently came out with the new 2812X that replaced the 2812. And they lowered the price from $15K to $10K. Kent raved about the new 2812X and I bought them. They are better. Surely after 75 years they better be. But I do miss the delicacy and beauty of the 57. Their sound is truly sublime. They have protection circuits built in so you can use them with most any amp over about 20 watts.

"The speakers were rebuilt in Jul 2017.
They should last decades, 30-40 years before they will need any
attention.  Items that were prone to wear as factory built are not an
issue with a rebuild.  Mylar film all around, metal film resistors in
the filter network."
