Selling my SA1000 I have owned this unit for about 4 years. When I first purchased it I was told that the unit had been completely go through with all new upgrades. This was not true. I took the unit to MUSE Audio all necessary were made. I was having more issues with this unit so I took it back to them this month to have the following work done on this monster.
Repair Description: -Hydrogen peroxide was used to stop the corrosion, and it has not spread
any further since it was used -The left amp board came back after trace repair and reflowing
solders -The components used in this unit are not aging well, after reassembly volume control
was not tracking correctly, the volume control was fully disassembled and repaired -Bad
transistors were swapped out with better modern equivalents and this brought back the tuner -
Mid-level control has a dead spot in the center. This causes a slight pop and humming when the
acoustic control is switched on. The only way to solve this is to replace the control and they are
nearly impossible to find. This control was cleaned with 4 different cleaners, resulting in no
change. -All controls have been recleaned. -Every capacitor has been replaced with new
capacitors where applicable: Nichicon audio grade, Nichicon High temp, or film capacitors. -All
suspect transistors have been verified to have been replaced. -Tuner realigned
I will be posting a complete working video of this unit. I will make every effort to provide a complete profile of this unit. Due to the age and weight any potential buyer should aware that I will not ship this unit. I will however meet the new owner at the Michigan border in either Ohio or Indiana.
Also included are the items in the last photo. Please check back within the next few days for the link to the video
Lastly whenever someone is selling something I am interested my thoughts are... why are they parting with this? It is was a tough decision to sell this unit. All my life I wanted one, I have had to take it in three times now for service. 2 major one minor. The problem is this: the thing weighs in at 80 lbs, my listening room is in the basement, I am getting too old to lug it up and out when it needs to go to the repair shop which is 60 miles away, its 40 plus years old and I need something more reliable. Lastly I promised my wife that I would sell it to cover the price tag of my MAC. I included the picture not to show off but to give for disclosure This thing is a beast and is very cool. gonna miss it
